Pastor Jacob Reaume was a guest again on the Rebel Podcast to speak about Bruxy Cavey’s interaction with Pastor Paul Carter of TGC Canada and his recent article The Heretic Sensitivity Movement.
The interview part of the podcast begins at 27:22.
Paul Carter teamed up with Bruxy Cavey over at The Gospel Coalition Canada and wrote this blog, the first of three in a series seeking clarity on Bruxy Cavey’s views.
Carter and TGC Canada have advised that we hold off on final judgment of this series until the three interview articles and their final analysis are published. I’m not sure what that analysis will include since the preamble to this article simply says they will publish their own position on the authority of Scripture and the atonement of Christ. That’s fair enough, but I also think it is fair to give analysis of this series along the way since there is going to be a large time gap between the articles, especially between this one and TGC Canada’s final analysis.

Bruxy Cavey recently publisheded a blog series responding to some of the criticism of his view of Scripture. Part 1 on the issue of authority is here.
I’m going to make a few comments in response to Part 1. I’ll not be dismantling this arguments point-by-point, but I hope to blow a big enough hole in the argument as a whole to expose it for what it is. Here are my main criticisms.

I was informed a few days ago by someone who had linked to some of Bruxy Cavey’s teaching videos from Fresno Pacific University for the purpose of criticism that one of the videos he had linked to had been deleted from You Tube. When I got home I checked my own playlist of Bruxy Cavey’s teaching and noticed that several of the videos on that playlist had been deleted.
It appears that all of the Fresno Pacific University videos of Cavey’s teaching there have disappeared. These were the videos that contained some of the most concerning statements from Cavey on the subjects of Scripture, atonement, the immutability of God, homosexuality, and others. This will be my final post reviewing Brian Zahnd’s trip to The Meeting House. We’ll take one final look at some comments made in the “Meeting House Round Table” podcast Zahnd recorded with Bruxy Cavey then I want to move on to some other important things in the weeks to come.
In my last post we were examining comments from Zahnd and Cavey regarding their doctrine of Scripture. We saw that Brian Zahnd sits and communes with spiritual entities which laugh along with him as he rejects the veracity of Scripture (you can’t make this stuff up), and that he is simply embarrassed by what Scripture actually teaches. Check out this podcast from Rebel Alliance Podcast on the topic of Bruxy Cavey’s doctrine with guest Pastor Jacob Reaume feom Trinity Bible Chapel.
Listen here and be sure to subscribe! The segment on Bruxy Cavey begins at 16:35.
Following Brian Zahnd’s
message diatribe at The Meeting House (my review starts here), he stuck around to do a “Meeting House Round Table” podcast with Bruxy Cavey. It was an hour-long interview where Bruxy asked Zahnd and his wife to speak on their view of Scripture, pacifism, and atonement theory.
Here I want to examine what Zahnd and Bruxy say regarding Scripture specifically.
In this post I’ll be bringing attention to Zahnd’s statements regarding continuing personal revelation and how that relates to his rejection of certain parts of Scripture.
On Following Jesus and Not the Bible
Bruxy asks Zahnd directly about what he said in his message about following Jesus and not the Bible. Bruxy brings up what he says is a common objection: Continue reading “Bruxy Cavey Interviews Brian Zahnd 1”
This is the sixth part of my review of Brian Zahnd’s teaching at The Meeting House. You can read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5. In this series am reviewing Zahnd’s sermon and a Roundtable podcast he participated in during his visit to The Meeting House.
This post will conclude my review of the sermon he preached, “Bad Idea: The Bible Trumps Jesus” before I move on to his Roundtable podcast interview he did with Bruxy Cavey.
Here I will quickly address one more comment Zahnd made in the sermon and offer my concluding thoughts Continue reading “Bruxy Cavey Importing American Lies 6: Brian Zahnd Corrects The Great Sin of the Church”
This is the fifth part of my review of Brian Zahnd’s teaching at The Meeting House. You can read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4. In this series am reviewing Zahnd’s sermon and a Roundtable podcast he participated in during his visit to The Meeting House.
His sermon was called “Bad Idea: The Bible Trumps Jesus” in which he argues for what can only be described as an incoherent view of Scripture. To Zahnd, the Bible is inconsistent, contradictory, and contains erroneous “assumptions” about God. Because of this, he advocates that we interpret all of Scripture through the lens of Jesus. This results in the rejection of any Scripture which doesn’t fit his preexisting view of what he thinks Jesus should be like. We have seen so far that to prove his point, Zahnd handles the Scriptures dishonestly, argues illogically, and does so with a contemptible level of mockery.
In this post I’m going to address the examples Zahnd gives of using the Bible to trump Jesus. Continue reading “Bruxy Cavey Importing American Lies 5: Brian Zahnd’s Examples of Trumping Jesus with the Bible”
